What is functional medicine?
Functional medicine looks at what is causing your symptoms rather than just masking them with drugs or surgery. We use lab tests, assessments, and in-office exams to look at your physiology and what is causing your pain, fatigue, discomfort, loss of sleep, depression, anxiety, memory loss, and more.
Functional medicine views the body as a whole. Since everything affects everything else, we look at the immune system, the hormone system, and the nervous system.
For example, chronic inflammation can cause obesity, gut problems can cause depression, or hormonal imbalances can cause memory loss. Functional medicine requires an in-depth knowledge of human physiology and how the body’s different systems affect one another.
This allows us to discover the causes of chronic and seemingly mysterious ailments. Many people have been to numerous doctors and clinics. Some have also made the rounds of various alternative doctors. They’re often told their lab tests are fine and nothing more can be done.
Functional medicine specializes in managing chronic conditions, autoimmune diseases (such as Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism), hormonal imbalances, allergies, chronic pain or fatigue, brain fog, memory loss, gut problems, and more.
Functional medicine isn’t a quick fixes or magic bullet. It requires a commitment to a regimen designed by your our office to treat your particular needs. Our patients are pleasantly surprised to find their efforts rewarded many times over.
