Functional Medicine

Personalized & Whole-Body Holistic Care

At Back On Track 2 Wellness, we believe true healing happens when you address the root cause of illness—not just the symptoms. Our Functional Medicine approach goes beyond traditional healthcare by integrating the latest scientific research with personalized, patient-centered care. We dig deep to uncover the underlying factors contributing to chronic health conditions, including imbalances in hormones, gut health, inflammation, and metabolic function.

Whether you're seeking Functional Medicine in Roseville or connecting with us via telehealth, our combination of advanced diagnostics, customized nutrition plans, lifestyle modifications, and targeted therapies empowers you to take control of your health and thrive. Whether you're battling fatigue, autoimmune disorders, or metabolic challenges, we’re here to guide you every step of the way toward lasting wellness.

The Root Cause Approach

Chronic disease, fatigue, pain, and illness are common and expected in our world. Even though many people live with poor health, it doesn’t mean that these symptoms are “normal.” The truth is that the human body is perfect by design – disease and problems only start to happen when the system is out of balance and affected by outside influences.

Too often, Western medicine has a hard time finding the cause of health concerns, so doctors simply hide the symptoms with prescriptions. Optimal health doesn’t happen when medications are used without getting to the root cause of disease.

The root cause approach in Functional Medicine focuses on uncovering the underlying factors contributing to your health challenges, rather than just addressing symptoms. By looking at how genetics, lifestyle, environment, and nutrition interact, we create personalized care plans that restore balance and promote optimal health. This approach empowers you to take charge of your well-being, offering long-term solutions to prevent disease and enhance vitality. Instead of temporary fixes, we target the source of the problem to help you achieve lasting health and resilience.

Is Functional Medicine Right For You?

Lifestyle Medicine

Create Purposeful & Powerful Change.

At Back On Track 2 Wellness, we use a modern approach to help you stop chasing the symptoms. Through functional medicine, you get a whole-person care plan that incorporates neurology, endocrinology, immunology, nutrition, and exercise.

We always start by asking the most critical questions:

  • WHY are you sick?
  • WHAT is the cause of the symptoms?
  • HOW can lifestyle modifications restore balance?
  • WHAT is needed for prevention in the future?

Our goal is to get past the symptoms to design the most effective plan for you to feel better.

Lifestyle medicine is an evidence-based practice of assisting families and individuals in adopting and continuing behaviors that can improve health and quality of life. Not only do we address immediate health concerns, but we also take a proactive approach to minimize the risk of health issues in the future.

Food as Medicine

Healing From The Inside-Out.

Food is more than fuel—it's medicine for the body, mind, and soul. The right foods have the power to nourish, repair, and optimize your health at the cellular level. A diet rich in whole, nutrient-dense foods can reduce inflammation, balance hormones, support gut health, and provide the building blocks your body needs to heal and thrive.

Functional Medicine embraces "Food as Medicine" by using personalized nutrition plans to address the root causes of illness and empower long-term wellness. By making intentional food choices, you can transform your health, prevent chronic disease, and unlock your body's natural healing potential.

Manage Chronic Illness Holistically

Our core belief is that chronic pain and illness stem from physical imbalances, most of which are easily modifiable. When the body's signals are ignored, environmental factors quickly lead to a chain reaction of chronic symptoms.

Adjusting these modifiable factors can restore health. 90% of patients who come to see us are ready to make a change in their lives. When we begin to teach these modifiable factors, it begins to connect people back to what true health really is: SELF CARE. It connects them back to what matters most, and many start to see relief from side effects and symptoms caused or uncured by traditional medicine.

What Our Patients Say

Are you sick and tired, of being sick and tired?

Functional Medicine FAQs

Traditional medicine typically turn to medications and surgical procedures to manage symptoms. Our Functional Medicine approach takes a more in-depth look at the underlying health conditions contributing to the symptoms. Our primary focus on the root causes makes it possible to promote true healing instead of hiding symptoms with temporary fixes. Many patients have experienced positive results from our Functional Medicine – avoiding medications and working with the healing elements in the body.

Mainstream medical tests and treatments don’t look at the root cause of diseases. Instead, most medical treatments are focused on alleviating symptoms. In comparison, functional medicine looks at many factors that can affect health, including:

  • Nutritional deficiencies
  • Environmental toxins
  • Mold exposure
  • Metabolic imbalances
  • Genetic risks
  • Physical activity

Functional Medicine addresses the individual as a whole, which means that various health problems can be addressed through a personalized lifestyle plan. Many people gravitate to our Functional Medicine approach to address a specific health concern and then find that this holistic approach has a domino effect of improving many areas of their health and wellness.

Our team at Back On Track 2 Wellness has years of experience in diagnostics, assessments, and implementation of health models to search for the root cause of chronic diseases. Our Lifestyle Medicine services are available for a variety of conditions, including:

  • Autoimmune conditions
  • Chronic pain
  • Fatigue
  • Digestive problems
  • Mood disorders
  • Inflammatory issues
  • Blood Sugar swings
  • Heart disease
  • Hormonal imbalances

This is just an overview of a few of the conditions that can be supported through our functional and lifestyle medicine approach. If you would like more information, then we invite you to contact us to see if we can help with your specific health concerns.

Not just anyone can be a Functional Medicine doctor. In order to be a Functional Medicine doctor, a practitioner must hold a doctorate degree in their primary field, whether that's as a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.), Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.), or another similar degree.

Most insurance plans do not cover Functional Medicine services, as Functional Medicine is considered above and beyond the current standard of healthcare. However, Functional Medicine is fully HSA and FSA approved.
